HCU exerted its power in emergency rescue in Yunnan province

 

A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Ludian County, Yunnan province in China, with the death toll rising to 615 people, injuring at least 3100 others. As of 8 August 2014, 114 people remained missing, which was the biggest earthquake happened in 18 years in Yunnan province.

After the disaster, SonoScape organized an emergency rescue team that went to the earthquake-struck area at top speed to aid the injured person. In considering that the earthquake happened in rural mountain area, the traffic and electricity were cut. SonoScape decided to donate 10 sets of shared service portable color Doppler ultrasound system with built-in battery, which are light-weight, easy-to-carried. Those HCU units were designed for on-site examination and field hospital use, meeting all the high performance application requirements. 

The earthquake caused significant damage in the immediate vicinity of the epicenter, more than 12,000 houses have been toppled and 30,000 damaged in quake zone. The quake has also cut telecommunications in Ludian County, aftershocks have triggered landslides and cracked many bridges, forcing SonoScape’s rescuers to walk on foot to the quake-hit area. After making a difficult two days journey, on August 6th,SonoScape’s emergency rescue team arrived disaster area with 8 color doppler ultrasound machine, which were delivered to the Health Bureau of Shaotong City. Understanding Huize County‘s disastrous situation, next day morning, the emergency rescue team brought 2000 boxes of water, 150 bags of rice and 150 quilts for the quake affected victims, and gave another 2 portable ultrasound systems to the Health Bureau of Zhichang Village.
